This week I have been mulling over how to use the space best in my side porch. I want to use what I have but add in some pieces that will really work hard in function and style. Making the space feel open and functional has been a little perplexing, but I think I have decided on a few things for now. This space will transition to my dining room some day so I want to pick pieces that can easily move outside to our patio (that does not exist yet). I am not going to paint the brick so I have to think of ways to get your eye off the brown….
Just a little reminder of the current space. I have a long narrow side porch that I want to divide into two spaces. An eating space and a dining space. The brown of my brown brick house is growing on me but I need some color to liven up the space.
I thought I was going to want a sofa and two chairs but I realized that the seating combo was not going to work because of the french doors. The old storm doors open outward and it was hard to place chairs on the wall with the french doors. The sectional allows the space to feel more open.
Just a reminder what the sunroom looks like from my living room. Now, imagine two backs of chairs seen through the windows. Nope. Plus, I would have to move them to open the doors.
I absolutely love this sectional. I love the price as well. I am worried that the side of the sofa would feel bulky when you look at it through the french doors in my living room. I almost wish it was armless. It would be perfect. It is also almost too big. The doors open all the way but there is no room for a side table or anything. I am in search of an armless smaller one. If you know of one in this price range… let me know.
I am wondering if this one might be better. I don’t love it as much but It wouldn’t be bulky and It would fit perfectly….. hmmm.
I am still looking for the perfect affordable sectional but until then, this is the look I am going for in the space. I am not sure I will be using all of these things seen in the mood board, but it gives you a feel of what direction I am going for the space.

I love the Target sofa! I like the more traditional style – fits your home better. The only thing that freaks me out about it is those white cushions but . I bought a new set of cushions last year & the background is white. They’re Sunbrella fabric so should hold up well but I still wanted them to be protected. I sprayed them really well with Scotchgard Outdoor Water Shield. One can did 4 big chairs & 2 long bench seats – both sides. It’s $12 & I highly recommend it. I store mine in the rainy season & while these trees are shedding but leave them out otherwise.

Thanks for the tips! I always scotch guard my white things. I love the Target sofa too. Just worried it will be too big and too bulky looking from my living room. I am with ya though… the first is much more like my old house.

Thank you! I hope I can help I know how you feel about the long to do list. This probably shouldn’t come first but I am excited to use it.
