I feel like I am the last girl to show up at the dance… the last one to to cross the finish line but my guest bedroom is done! This project was a little time consuming but this room needed help and I needed something creative to do during lockdown. The accountability of the One Room Challenge kept me on pace. The goal, since many stores are not open and online shopping is delayed, was to use mostly everything that I have. The biggest impact in this space was paint. Thank goodness the paint store is still open.
Here was the plan and it changed up a bit but for the most part it stayed the same.
I decided to go back to the original layout and I am glad I did. It makes more sense. The rug I got on Facebook marketplace via a friend. The bedding was a mixture of things I had and purchased.
The side tables I found at a thrift store a long time ago and I painted them the same color as the wall stencil. Benjamin Moore Polo Blue. I chose Polo Blue because they are the same color as my son’s built in bookshelves next door to this room.
Nightstands are an expensive item and I don’t know why that is. Whenever you see one you like at a thrift store or online selling site… they are worth hoarding.
For those who want to know colors: The wall color is Benjamin Moore Decorators White and the stencil color is Benjamin Moore Polo Blue. (all painted in a flat paint)
The coverlet is simple from Ikea and the duvet is an old one I had from Target. The shams are the only thing I bought for this room and they are from JC Penny. They are similar to a linen one I found at Pottery Barn but about $120 cheaper.
The bed is from All Modern (out of stock). I love the spindle bed look and it was really affordable. I bought this a couple of years ago but its still available.
The print is my favorite place in the world. I had the picture blown up and I love it.
The sconces I bought on Amazon. They were black and I painted them. They were also hardwired and I changed them to a plug in version. They are also a similar style to my son’s room light and my master bedroom sconces. I wanted all the rooms to feel unique but have cohesive elements.
The lumbar pillow was bought at a vintage rug store and turned into a lumbar pillow.
The Vintage lady I found at an estate sale for $1. I love her and think she is super quirky and colorful.
I love how simple the ceiling light is and because it has two bulbs in it… the light is great at night.
This is the view of the room you see when you come upstairs. Since the picture over the bed is my favorite place these are some of my favorite people in my favorite place.
I also decided to put the dresser in the closet and used a vintage console table instead. This is a great place for a guest to sit and get ready or pull out the bench and use it to store luggage.
The bench is also vintage and I have had it for a little while.
