One Room Challenge Week 6
This space was featured on BHG.com check it out here!
This reveal has been quite the challenge this week because we have had over a week of rain. To get this space done and photographed, I had to wait out the rain. I have loved this One Room Challenge because I took an unused space in my home and now its really where my family wants to be.
Just a little reminder of the before…
…now we are ready to have a dinner party out here.
Here is a little reminder of the plan. Many things made it into the space but others were just inspiration for colors and the mood of the room.
Because of the low railings I chose Target’s Fernhill outdoor seating. The sofas sit lower which makes them perfect for our space.
The sofa’s black frame is a good mix of modern and classic. The brick pillar in the corner of the side doesn’t allow for a sectional so I made my own using a sofa and love seat.
I actually love the little pocket in the corner for my Hibiscus tree.
I am obsessed with my blue buffalo check rug. Last week I shared how I pulled this look off with affordable carpet tiles.
The picture is printed on outdoor vinyl and framed in an Ikea frame (Thank you Jenny Komenda for this ingenious idea). It is light weight and the perfect modern pop of color on the blah brown brick.
The light is this pendant from Target’s Project 62 collaboration with designer Leanne Ford. You can actually make the fixture semi-flush if you shorten the wire. The entire room is surrounded by white market lights. It is pretty magical at night time but during the day, I wanted the lights to blend into the trim.
The dining table I purchased from World Market a few years ago. The table was too tall for my low railings so I removed the legs and added Ikea Krille desk legs. To make the table lower I removed the casters that come with the desk legs, and swapped them out with adjustable furniture feet.
The Kilim Sling Chairs are the perfect dining chair solution for a narrow space. We have found ourselves using them as footstools over in the seating area. I love how versatile they are in the space.
My old house is brick, white trim and concrete. It has been fun to soften bland colors with plants and colorful textiles.
This space has so many rectangles and squares that it was nice to add in these round concrete planters from Target.
As you can see, I am surround by brown. The homes in my 100 year old neighborhood were built very close together. I don’t mind gazing at the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. In the late part of his career he designed a few houses in my neighborhood. My neighbors house was not designed by FLW but supposedly by someone who worked for him.

Love what you’ve done with this space. The sofa + love seat was a smart idea – the pocket for your hibiscus is cute!

Thank you! I wanted a sectional to work so much but that pillar extends 10 inches from the railing. It was the only want to make it work and not waste space. Thanks for reading!
